Synopsis

Exhausted from a red-eye, Alex steps onto his back patio with an Ambien and a beer. Tiny hooded shapes the size of cats begin scaling the wooden fence, carrying tools that glint under the porch light. When he tries to film them the footage shows only empty fence, forcing Alex to question whether his mind or his neighborhood is under siege. As the hallucinations intensify, Alex recruits his skeptical wife and a conspiracy-loving neighbor to trap one of the creatures, only to discover they multiply when exposed to light and seem to be mapping escape routes from the suburb itself. The Ambien high fades at dawn but the figures remain, now inside the house, turning domestic spaces into a miniature battleground. In the final act Alex must choose between permanent sedation that keeps the creatures visible or sobriety that erases the only proof they exist, culminating in a surreal standoff atop the fence at sunrise.

EXT. SUBURBAN BACKYARD - NIGHT

A single porch light hums. ALEX RIVERA (40s, rumpled suit, red-eye eyes) sits in a plastic chair, Ambien bottle and beer in hand. He swallows the pill, exhales.

Something CLATTERS along the wooden fence. Alex leans forward. Three HOODED FIGURES, knee-high, scurry single-file across the top rail, carrying tiny chisels that catch the light.

ALEX
(whispering to phone)
You seeing this?

He records. The screen shows only fence. One figure stops, turns, seems to stare straight at the lens. Alex drops the phone. The figures vanish over the far side.

INT. KITCHEN - MOMENTS LATER

Alex bursts inside, breathing hard, wife LENA asleep at the counter. Outside the window, faint chisel taps echo.

Why now

In an era of mass sleeplessness, prescription dependency, and blurred digital realities, this story taps our collective fear that the strange things we see alone at night might be the only honest glimpse we get of what's really coming for us.
